New Trends
I love to see a little bit of rustic incorporated into an interior, especially in the form of raw woods. I think it is the Tennessee farm girl in me who likes to see something inspired by, or taken directly from, nature.
Room Revamp
A new pair of lamps goes a long way in freshening a room. I also like to start over with accessories if I’m craving a new look. I take all of the small items out and only bring back a few that I really love. Sometimes I bring back just one large item such as an interesting vase or piece of pottery to make a big statement.
Must-Haves
I love to find an old piece and reimagine it with paint or new fabric to get a one-of-a-kind look. Lighting has also dramatically changed the look of our little ranch house. The day we took down the Colonial-style brass chandelier in the dining room and replaced it with an old lantern was the day that the room really started to look like us. I claim to love the neutrals, but I can’t live without just a little color—earthy and muted of course.
Newlywed Diaries
I have been blogging for three and a half years. I started it to write about our life together as newlyweds but it quickly morphed into an inspiration notebook and later, we bought a house and it became a way to chronicle our updates and do-it-yourself renovations.
