Nov. 6 - 9: Christmas Village Festival

Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex • 2100 Richard Arrington Blvd. 458-8500

10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Thur. - Sat.; Noon - 5 p.m., Sun. Kick off the holidays with this exciting Christmas festival featuring more than 700 booths, food and pictures with Santa. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 - 12 and free for children under 6. 

Nov. 6: Homewood for the Holidays

Downtown Homewood

5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Businesses in downtown Homewood will usher in the holiday season with a festive evening of shopping for the latest holiday gifts. Customers will enjoy extended store hours, refreshments and a personal shopping experience and leave with beautifully wrapped gifts for the holidays. Carolers from Samford University will be strolling through the streets to spread holiday cheer, and the free Homewood for the Holidays Trolley will be making stops throughout the downtown area. 

Nov. 9: Wonderful Wreaths

Birmingham Botanical Gardens • 2612 Lane Park Rd. 414-3950

2 p.m. Learn new and exciting techniques for door wreaths that will welcome your holiday visitors with flair. In this class, participants will learn how to use everyday items and easily accessible flora and fauna to create exceptional decorations for the entrance way. Tickets are $15 for members and $20 for non-members. 

Nov. 13: Birmingham Style Book Signing

Mountain Brook Village

4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Don't miss this progressive book signing around the shops of MBV with "Birmingham Style" editor Cathy Still McGowin and photographer Jean Allsopp. "Birmingham Style" is a new hardcover coffee table book featuring more than 200 images of the best architecture, interior design and gardens in the greater Birmingham area. Nov. 13 - Dec. 14: Inspiration Home 2014

The Preserve • 359 Chestnut Park Ln., Hoover.

9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Thur. - Fri.; 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sat.; 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. Sun. The 2014 Inspiration Home is a two-story painted brick home exhibiting traditional Southern style combined with modern amenities. The home will feature the styles and designs from some of Birmingham’s top retailers and manufacturers. The home is open for holiday tours Nov. 13 - Dec. 14 (Thur. - Sun.). Tickets are $10. 

Nov. 20 - 22: Market Noel 

Cahaba Grand Conference Center • 3660 Grandview Pkwy. 443-6767

Knock out your holiday shopping at the Junior League of Birmingham's annual holiday market. Special events throughout the weekend include Market Bliss on Nov. 21 for $24 (includes wine, desserts and a variety of complimentary services by the Tonya Jones Salon) and Snaps with Santa on Nov. 22 from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. for $12. General admission tickets are $12, and parking is free.

Nov. 21: Have Yourself a Merry Little Art Show

Red Dot Gallery • 1001 Stuart St. 870-7608

5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Offering paintings, pottery, sculpture, drawings and ornaments by favorite Birmingham artists and a host of Red Dot Gallery students, this exhibit promises an enticing variety of original works ideal for holiday gift giving. Admission is free.
